The 5 BEST Websites for Flash Game Making Tutorials.

I am self taught when it comes to flash - from bumbling through the help files and figuring out my first motion tween to my more recent aquisition of some dope actionscripting skillz, I’ve found that some places are more useful than others when it comes to getting assistance with your flash projects.

Here are the most useful places I’ve found for Free Online Flash Tutorials:

FlashKit
http://www.flashkit.com

This website, while one of the more painfully slow ones, is chock full of user-uploaded tutorials.  This site helped me to make my first actionscript games, with a specific section on games making tutorials being a massive convenience!   Definately have a look (If you’re not impatient!)

GotoAndPlay
http://www.gotoandplay.it

This cleverly named website is well laid out, with a bunch of tutorials and links to some great flash games.   The “Articles” section is where you want to head to find the tutorials, with tons of useful tutorials.   They even have guides on making multiplayer online flash games using their server-based software “SmartFoxServer”!   So that could be the start of some epic MMO flash stuff!

GotoandLearn
http://www.gotoandlearn.com

Another nice play on the ol’ actionscripting term, this website actually has some videos showing exactly how and where to make your animations and input your code.   While more about creating flash applications, a lot of these tutorials can be applied to games as well.   Though for me, some of the videos are broken links.   The files work though, so if you are a learner by example, it’s fantastic.

Newgrounds
http://www.newgrounds.com

Yes!   Little known fact: Newgrounds is CRAMMED full of Flash tutorials as well as the animations and games!   Just do a quick search for “tutorial” and you’ll have yourself an extensive list of flash tutorials made in flash.   Fantastic.

I hope that list has been useful, and keep checking back here, as I will be making my own video tutorials for various things in flash very soon!

Update:

Thanks to Simon Maders of http://www.flasharcadegamessite.com/ for the following link:
